Essential Care and Usage Guidelines for Silk Bedding

Mulberry silk is a natural protein fiber known for its exceptional softness and luxurious feel. However, it is susceptible to snagging. Therefore, when using silk bedding, it is recommended to keep your nails trimmed and to address any rough areas on your body, particularly the heels. For rough skin patches, exfoliation and the application of moisturizers are advisable.

Silk, being a protein fiber similar in structure to keratin, collagen, and hair, can generate static electricity when rubbed against polyester or synthetic materials. This static electricity can contribute to pilling. To minimize this issue, it is recommended to avoid wearing clothing made of other materials, especially synthetic fibers, while sleeping. Ideally, the bedding should have direct contact with the skin (nude sleeping) or silk sleepwear can be worn.

Silk Bedding Washing and Care Guidelines

Choice of Detergent:
Avoid using strong alkaline detergents or soap. Instead, opt for specialized silk detergents or use mild shampoos or body washes.
Washing Methods:

Hand wash:
Begin by fully immersing the silk product in water. Then, add a suitable amount of detergent to cold or lukewarm water (below 30°C). Once the detergent is well-dispersed in the water, place the soaked bedding in it. There is no need for soaking; simply gently agitate and wash by hand, followed by thorough rinsing.

Machine wash:
For optimal washing results, it is advisable to pre-treat visible stains on the bedding by applying detergent and gently scrubbing. Subsequently, invert the bedding (inside out) and place it in the washing machine. Select the silk or gentle cycle on your washing machine, ensuring that the water temperature remains below 30°C.

Note: Avoid using disinfectants or highly alkaline detergents, and refrain from washing silk bedding together with other fabrics, as this may lead to pilling, fuzzing, damage, or color fading.

Dry cleaning:
For professional dry cleaning, it is recommended to utilize specialized services. If there are specific stains, it is important to inform the cleaner of the type of stain for appropriate treatment.

Drying Methods:
After washing silk bedding, refrain from wringing or twisting it to remove excess water. Sun exposure should be avoided as well. Instead, gently shake out the bedding, lay it flat, and allow it to air dry in a cool and well-ventilated area. When drying, ensure that the bedding is inverted (inside out) to prevent yellowing and fading caused by direct sunlight.

Ironing Methods:
While silk bedding is not as wrinkle-resistant as synthetic fibers, it can be ironed. It is advisable to iron silk products at room temperature (60-110°C), taking care to avoid direct contact between the iron and the delicate surface to prevent any shine marks.

Storage and Care:

To preserve the quality of silk products, it is important to store them in dry and shaded areas, away from direct sunlight. Avoid using mothballs or sanitizing balls.
